For over 17 years, Stargaard Art has explored the raw and unpredictable beauty of pouring molten bronze onto concrete. In 2024, a renewed passion for pushing the boundaries of free-poured bronze has sparked new creative possibilities.
This process begins with melting recycled bronze in a forge and pouring it directly onto concrete, loose sand, or water. Each pour is entirely unique, shaped by the spontaneous interaction between metal and material. Over the past two years, in collaboration with Evan Sunderman, I have refined the organic forms that emerge as the molten bronze solidifies, embracing the unpredictable textures and movement within each piece.
The results are captivating—bronze transformed into flowing, natural shapes that inspire curiosity and awe. Once cooled, these raw forms are sculpted into rounded, fluid structures, becoming portals of transcendence. The Bronze Poured Series is a testament to the beauty of transformation, where chaos and control meet, and where metal, fire, and earth converge to create something entirely new.
